Ron Mikel Surara, a PSHS-BRC G9 scholar, bagged a Bronze Medal in the recently concluded 20th Singapore National Olympiad in Informatics hosted by the NUS School of Computing at the National University of Singapore on March 18, 2017.

He joined the Philippine Team with six members who all have won medals. Robin Yu (Xavier School) took home a gold, Andrew Ting (Xavier School) clutched a silver, together with Farrell Eldrian Wu (MGC New Life Christian Academy), while Franz Louis Cesista (Philippine Science High School – Eastern Visayas Campus) and Kim Bryann Tuico (Manila Science High School) were also awarded with bronze medals.

The National Olympiad in Informatics is annually joined by students from Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Vitenam and the Philippines who have exemplary programming skills where they outdo each other in solving problems through computer programming.

John Rainer Joaquin, BRC Computer Science teacher, served as Surara’s coach. He expressed delight on the pride his student brought home despite his absence during the actual competition in Singapore after his wife gave birth to their first child the day they were supposed to leave for the competition.
