THE FIRST PHASE OF THE PHILIPPINE SCIENCE HIGH SCHOOL—BICOL REGION Campus Gymnasium has just been completed, Mrs. Eden Oliver, school’s administrative officer reported on October 26, 2010.

The construction of the gymnasium, which is located beside the Girls’ Dormitory, began in February this year and was supervised by Mr. Jose Chito Milante.

The 56.25-meter long and 32.5-meter wide gymnasium was designed by Marijoy Atole, Nimrad DP. Saclag, Nelson Romero, Michael Sain, and Sherwin Pasasala through a memorandum agreement between the PSHS-BRC and Partido State University (PSU).

With approximately P91M for its budget, the gymnasium will be utilized for sports events and additional office space, Juan Narvato, another supervising engineer, said in an interview with The Bicol Scholar.

Narvato said the gymnasium will have two floors—the lower floor as the sports field and office area, and the higher floor for the bleachers and Physical Education Health and Music (PEHM) rooms.

The ground floor’s sports field contains a five-lane swimming pool at the center with the circumference of an oval track around it. On opposite ends of the oval, the offices will be placed.

In addition to the offices, the gymnasium will also have a mini-theater on the second floor.

The completion of the first phase of the gymnasium coincides with the completion of the first phase of the administrative building near the PSHS-BRC entrance.
