Freshman leads Pisay-Bicol UP Harong Acad Fest winners Featured

VINCE VITTORIO TURIANO of I-Diamond topped the public speaking event in this year’s University of the Philippines (UP) Harong Academic Festival on October 27-30, 2010 at the Ateneo de Naga University, Naga City.

Turiano dominated the said event with his impromptu speech on the role of the government in preserving the environment.



Other Pisay-Bicol winners in the fifteenth edition of the acad fest were junior student Pauline Marie Belmonte, second placer in photojournalism; the team of Ian Espaldon, Kristian Leonard Orante (both seniors), and Christoper Jan Landicho (junior), which placed second in the quiz bee; and Kenneth Anthony Roquid, Anthony Felix Abogado (seniors), and Christine Joy Octavo (junior student), which were quiz bee third placers.

With the theme, “Raising the Heat: Youth Campaign for Environmental Awareness and Responsibility,” the three-day academic undertaking was joined in by 16 public and private high schools in the province of Camarines Sur.

UP Harong is a duly recognized organization of University of the Philippines – Diliman students from the province of Camarines Sur and the cities of Iriga and Naga.

The organization aims to foster unity and camaraderie among its members and with other students, to provide channels for the enhancement of academic potentials and to develop awareness of and commitment among high school students of the aforementioned places.
