Pisay scholars shine in SSPC opening
Fantastic.
Camarines Sur Association of Secondary School Paper Advisers (ASSPA) President Eden Alarcon commented as Philippine Science High School – Bicol Region Campus (PSHS –BRC) scholars showcased their talents in the arts during the 4th Congressional Secondary Schools Press Conference Opening Ceremonies last August 25.
“It was an extraordinary presentation where in yung mga student journalist nachallenge to come up with intermission numbers themselves, “she stated.
The program began with an interpretative dance of Via Dolorosa given by the Pisay Performing Arts Guild (PiPAG) dance troupe which was shorty followed by the PiPAG Anklong Orchestra with their renditions of Willian Tell, Cherry Pink, Si Pilemon and Sway.
“Actually po, bilib talaga po ako ‘ta first time ko makahiling ning arog kaitong instruments sa stage,” said Carmen Moreno of San Ramon National High School, one of the participants.
The Pisay Choir also performed their rendition of May Bagong Umagang Parating as conducted by PiPAG adviser, Mr. Joel Reginales.
“I’m actually surprised. Relieved naman po ako na may nagappreciate ng performances namin. Especially dahil pinaghirapan naming po iyon,” said Rainier Robbie Bobiles, one of the members of the group when asked for a reaction.
The training of the acts was supervised by Mr. Reginales along with Ms. Irish Rocha and Mr. Francis Barrio which are part of the campus’s Physical Education Health and Music Department.

PSHS BRC hosts Sectoral Confab
"You hold great power - a power that can transform a society… if this is used rightly."
This was said by Philippine Science High School - Bicol Region Campus (PSHS - BRC) Student Services Division (SSD) Chief, Joy Melga Olazo as she welcomed the journalists of the Partido area during the 4th Congressional Secondary Schools Press Conference last August 25.
In her speech, Olazo pointed out that journalist of today must uphold responsible journalism through ethical use of social media.
"You empower the digital natives - the millennials. You are the foreground of using technology for proper dissemination of the needed information which should engender peace, unity, and transformation," she added.
Olazo challenged the journalists saying it is their duty to promote and sustain social consciousness for a better society.
“The pen is mightier than the sword,” reminded Olazo.
Furthermore, Olazo also said that the conference was an opportunity of “strengthening the bond, strengthening camaraderie, and strengthening friendship among journalists.”
"This press conference is not just about winning or losing. It is about the gift God has given you." Olazo further said.
