PSHS-BRC wins APTJSO; brings Ph its 3rd streak of championship

The Philippine team composed of Francis Anthony Homillano, Ana Ysabela Arroyo and Al Christian Gobres of Philippine Science High School-Bicol Region Campus bagged the overall championship during the 3rd ASEAN +3 Junior Science Odyssey APTJSO held at National Science Museum, Pathum Thani, Thailand on June 23-29, 2014.

This is the third time in a row that the Philippines won the said award since it joined the APTJSO.

The said event was held in three categories, namely: agriculture sustainability poster presentation, laboratory skills assessment which is furthermore divided into three subcategories: plant tissue culturing, diesel production and chromatography,pH measurement and innovative strategies for sustainable agriculture.

PSHS-BRC team won 2nd place in the diesel production and chromatography, 3rd place in the pH measurement and 4th place in the poster presentation. For the individual awards, Gobres won the 1st place in the innovative strategiesfor sustainable agriculture while Homillano won the 2nd place in the same category. The team won a total of three bronze medals, four silver medals and one gold medal.

The team was coached by Ms. Maries Christine Obusan.

Taiwan and Indonesia won the 2nd and 3rd overall championship respectively.

APTJSO was sponsored by the ASEAN +3 Center for the Gifted in Science in the aims of promoting international family farming and agriculture sustenance.
